Events and Festivals

We revel at the thought of our hometown heritage and celebrate the unexpected in all that is art. Harbor Country fills a calendar with its many reasons for a festival or unique event.

Each year we look forward to winter activities including the HCPAI Birdhouse Auction in January and the February Chocolate Classic. In April we celebrate the arts and spring with the Art Attack tour. Summer kicks off with the Annual Flag Day Celebration, and Artigras, followed by Ship & Shore and Harvest Days.

Our website is updated regularly with activities and events held at the eclectic array of venues in Harbor Country. If the weekend seems way too quiet, you might not be looking hard enough.

Birds of the Americas Joint Photo Exhibition

Tabula Rasa and Fernwood Botanical Gardens are hosting a joint Photo Exibit by Owen Deutsch, a winner of National Geographic's top bird photos. "Bald eagle chasing blue heron" was  named an American Nature Photography Association's winner.

Owen is donating 100% of commissions to American Bird Conservancy. Please join us to see these amazing photos and support bird conservancy.

Steppin' Out (Ballroom Dancing)

Come dance to everything from swing, freestyle, latin dances, rumbas, fox trots, and people's choice. There'll be line dancing as well complete with the Acorn disco ball. From 7-7:30 there'll be optional dance instruction. Pre-paid reservations are $8, pay at door $10.

Harbor Country Nutracker

A Harbor Country holiday tradition returns to the New Buffalo Performing Arts Center as Southold Dance Theater takes the stage for the Harbor Country Nutcracker.

For over one hundred years, the story of the ballet has proven irresistible to both children and adults alike. Set in nineteenth-century Germany, the ballet opens at a Christmas party at which the mysterious Dr. Drosselmeyer gives his little niece Clara a magical toy that takes her on an unforgettable journey. From the battle scene between the Rat King and the Nutcracker in the first act to pirouetting flowers in the second act, The Harbor Country Nutcracker is sure to enchant audiences of all ages.

30 local students will appear  in this year’s performance as Little Mice and Lambs.

Residents of Chikaming, New Buffalo, Three Oaks Townships receive free admission thanks to a grant made possible by The Pokagon Fund.

Tickets available at the New Buffalo Performing Arts Center on the day of the performance.

$12 for adults and $8 for children.

Giggle and Mingle with Santa

Winter Fest New Buffalo

Celebrate the season at New Buffalo Winter Fest with lots of winter fun activities like free sleigh rides through town on Saturday, ice-skating all weekend, ice carving demonstrations and more! The ice sculpting competition will be held on Sunday.
