Back by popular demand! Join Handbag Diva Caitlin Jackson as she pays tribute to the Divine Miss M’s legendary cabaret act at the equally legendary Continental Bathhouse in New York City. This loving recreation of the beginning of Ms. Midler’s stellar career will feature the fabulous songs she sang for the boys in the bathhouse, including "Chattanooga Choo-Choo", "Superstar", and of course, "Chapel of Love" done in Bette’s inimitable style. The show was a critic and audience favorite in 2015, also making Broadway World Chicago’s Critics favorite list! We’ll transform the historical Acorn Theater into the legendary Continental Bathhouse in New York City (just don't tell your great Aunt Gertie this is where young men went to clean up back in the day). The show will feature a live band and musical director Jeremy Ramey as Barry Manilow. Directed and choreographed by Christopher Pazdernik, the show also features hot dancing boys wearing strategically placed towels and steam…lots of steam. The Signal - Doo Wop Rhapsody

Aug 21, 2016
Time: 04:00 PM
Location: Acorn Theater, 107 Generations Dr., Three Oaks
Phone: 269-756-3879

Featured on WGN TV and radio, Fox News, the Chicago Tribune, The Times and the Post Tribune, this captivating new musical returns to the Acorn Theater after packing their house and selling out several times.

A black woman from the 1950’s, improbably was the first to introduce the Beatles to America!  She then heavily influenced Berry Gordy and Michael Jackson.  Even before all that, she was the first to bring the Four Seasons, Jerry Butler, Jimmy Reed, Gladys Knight & The Pips, and many more to the top of the charts.

A former dee jay and record store proprietor, Gary, Indiana’s Vivian Carter was the first female to own a record label, Vee Jay Records that pioneered these greats.  Her character is central to the captivating new musical, The Signal – A Doo Wop Rhapsody.

It is a true story in narrative and song told at 45 rpm of a crystal radio that captures a radio wave - a signal - transporting an 11 year old boy into the world of Vivian’s music, from her very first hit, the Spaniels’ Goodnight Sweetheart.  Thus begins a quest for harmony, literally and figuratively.

Starring: Rhythm & Blues Pioneer Award Winners, The Spaniels, (Goodnight Sweetheart, Baby It’s You, Peace of Mind),  Hall of Fame inductee, Willie Rogers of The Soul Stirrers, (A Change is Gonna Come, Chain Gang, If I Had a Hammer), and the nation’s premier acappella group, Stormy Weather (Sweets for my Sweet, Sh-Boom, For Your Precious Love).

Tickets $25-$30.
