Art Attack, May 2, 3, and 4th. Escape to our Southwestern Michigan lakeside
resort for a weekend showcase full of gallery receptions, artist’s
workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions, theatre, music, food and an overall
great time! We offer a rich palette of artistic activity for your creative

Harbor Country is a haven for artists and galleries in addition to our
wonderful shops, restaurants and lodging facilities. There is art in everything
that we do. Harbor Country businesses turn themselves into an art form
for the weekend. You will be delighted with the creative and innovative
events planed.
Events will be held in many of the eight communities that comprise Harbor
Country. They are located off the first four exits of I-94 from the Michigan-Indiana
border. From the west and north take I-94 to exits 1, 4, 6, or 12; from
the east take U. S. 12 to the Red Arrow Highway, then right to Union Pier
and beyond or left to New Buffalo. All art Attack events are open to the
public. Most are free. To obtain a brochure call 1-269-469-5409 or download
the brochure from the link above.
There will be approximately 40 venues with multiple events at each. There
is something for everyone’s interest. We are particularly excited
about Ad Fest and Feast. This is an event that in the past was a staple
of the weekend but disappeared for awhile. Last year Art Attack and LAKE
Magazine brought it back bigger and better than ever. Ad Fest and Feast
will be held on Friday May 2nd at 7 p.m. Join us for one of Art Attack’s
most fun-filled evenings. Direct from the New York Festival of international
Commercials, we will present an evening of viewing the world’s most
award-winning and funniest television commercials of 2007. If you are

Country. Along with this event LAKE Magazine is sponsoring scholarships
that will be presented to local high school seniors that have excelled
in the world of art and culture. The cost of this evening is only $40

In an unsettling time, when change is rampant, and our values and beliefs
are constantly being challenged, Howard Garet wants to leave viewers of
his paintings with the comforting feeling of the beauty that still surrounds
us. Howard uses soft pastels in a painterly technique on archival sanded-type
papers. Ronald Stec has established himself an in important artist in
the Michiana area. His role models are Jan Vermeer, Andrew Wyeth as well
as Edward Hopper. One critic defined his work as “Hopperesque, but
happy.” His paintings relate a mood and tell a story in which painting
and beholder are mutually implicated. Works depicting aspects of rural
America and Great Lakes landscape prevail in his repertoire. Liz Thomas
presents Partly Cloudy: watercoloring the Sky. Liz paints the beaches
and landscapes of Harbor Country with special focus on the clouds that
float, always’ above them. Her watercolors celebrate the beauty
of the ever changing sky and that gorgeous sunset you never wanted to
forget.
