Letter from the President

I’m excited to serve as your new Chamber President for the 2011-2012 term. While we have had many successes, as you will read about in this newsletter, we also have challenges. Continuing to market the area without the successful Pure Michigan partnerships formerly sponsored by the Harbor Country Convention & Visitors Bureau will be a challenge. Collaborating with local governments and business associations to develop a Harbor Country economic development plan will be a challenge. Growing membership and finding new sources of revenue in a still down economy will be a challenge.
My years serving on the Chamber Board and committees have prepared me well for these challenges. I hope you will consider joining me and the many volunteers who understand that in order to make things happen, you need to get involved.
Priorities for the Chamber in the coming year are:
• Focusing on economic development efforts that create an environment for business expansion, retention, and recruitment.
• Building stronger local and regional partnerships with business associations and other organizations
• Increasing marketing efforts to enhance the Harbor Country brand
• Developing fundraising avenues for the Chamber
Get involved. Engage. Be crazy!. I look forward to working with you to achieve our goals.
