Winter in Harbor Country®
The area's many attractions take on a charm of their own when the temperatures plummet and the snow falls. The relaxed atmosphere and cozy lodging alternatives beg for an afternoon snooze, a good book in front of the fire or a quiet walk through the woods or on the frozen beaches. And the evenings bring much camaraderie midst the glowing lights of a favorite restaurant. There's a saying heard often in Harbor Country during the winter: "Our snow stays white." That's when hang-gliding and swimming give way to tobogganing, sledding, cross-country skiing and snow tubing at WarrenDunes State Park. Many of the county parks nature trails are groomed for cross-country skiing ).
Snowmobiles
navigate the trails
between New
Buffalo and Galien and beyond, with plenty of inviting stopping places
along the way. A final reason for winter visits to Harbor Country is the
pleasure of finding that many lodging
establishments offer reduced rates and special
packages while some restaurants
offer discounted specials. Harbor Country in the winter. A sure cure for
cabin fever!
