The calls and visitor traffic has started at the Harbor Country Chamber of Commerce. Mothers of brides are coming in to fill goody bags for out of town guests. Grandparents are stopping by looking for help in finding a vacation rental that will accommodate their children and grandchildren. Locals are dropping in to find out what new businesses have opened this year.
We’re ready for summer! The Chamber office is well stocked with marketing material and the new Harbor Country Guide, so you can be “in the know” about lodging, dining, events, things to do and places to go. What’s new this summer?
- New dining options include Sage Bistro and breakfast service at Brewster’s in New Buffalo, Patellie’s in Three Oaks, and Peasant’s Pantry in Saw
- yer (coming soon)
- More lodging choices with Beachtown Vacation Rentals, Rainbow’s End, Corky’s on Harbert, Three Oaks Lodging, and the new Bluefish Vacation Rentals
- New events like the Makers Trail Festival (June 9) at Weko Beach, Civil War Days in Three Oaks (July 28 & 29), and a new location – Warren Dunes State Park — for the long-running Lake Michigan Shore Wine Fest (June 16)
- More fun things to do like boat tours on Lake Mchigan with Harbor Country Adventures, kayaking the Galien River at the new launch site in Glassman Park, or sampling the after dark dining and entertainment at the Four Winds Outdoor Pool Bar.
…and the biggest new thing we’re all waiting for is the completion of the major face lift for downtown New Buffalo. An opening celebration is scheduled for June 14. Can’t wait to see and experience the major transformation for Harbor Country’s biggest beach town.
Whether you’re coming from out of town, or having a staycation at home, we hope you enjoy the summer pleasures in our little slice of paradise. Please respect our beaches, drive safely on our roads, and practice the fine art of patience!
