New Buffalo is ready for Redevelopment
The vitality of the downtown area of any community is essential and thus the City of New Buffalo is engaged in several key projects with the goal to attract new business and residents to the city. To achieve this goal the city formed a Downtown Development Authority in 2013, as a vehicle to provide for a variety of funding options including tax increment financing mechanism, which can be used to fund public improvements in the downtown district and the ability to levy a limited millage to address administrative expenses. With input from the community, the city is embarking on a 5 million redevelopment of its downtown area.
