Harbor Country’s Black Currant Bakehouse is commemorating a year in business on the weekend of May 19th with delicious freebies and more. Breakfast sandwiches will make their first appearance - a frequently requested addition to the savory menu. $1 birthday cupcakes will be offered until supplies last, bakery t-shirts will be 20% off, and there will be drawings for gift certificates!
The Black Currant Bakehouse sits tucked away between Red Arrow Highway and Lake Michigan in Union Pier. Owners Katie Marggraf and Jesse Ives spent over five months restoring and renovating the old Ramberg’s Bakery building in order to create a new clean, modern space for beach-goers and local residents to indulge in high quality scratch made pastries, sandwiches, coffee, espresso and more.
Reflecting on the past year in business, Marggraf says “We’ve learned so much, worked so hard, and baked for so many wonderful people. We’re ready for the next year, and the next 20 years!” The bakery opened its doors on May 20th, 2017, and has become known for their unique donuts and vegetarian sandwiches.
